Farewell to an Old Friend: Canon Camera's Demise

I was looking forward to going to Norway again. I had not been for a while and the fjords were calling. All packed and gear checked we headed off. The port of Southampton was our destination and to be more specific the Sky Princess. Once onboard and upacked I decided to check the camera and prepare for a nice gentle cruise along the coast and into the English channel. However, when I switched on the camera there was nothing. Not even the flicker of a red light. No problem, I thought, I will chenge the battery.... Nothing. I went through a number of usual issues but it remained firmly off. This really put a spanner in things.

When I got home I took it to trusty old Bristol Cameras who sent it off to to be looked at. I fully expected it to come back to life but the other day I got a call. The news was not good. After 14ish years of service my Canon camera 5D Mk II was pronounced dead. Even writing on the screen gives me shivers. I still have my Canon 5d Mk 1 which is working nicely but to lose this old friend is hard.

I have invested in a little 2000D which is not a bad little camera but I think it won't be long before I am on the hunt for another full frame DSLR. I may go for a 6D Mk 2 this time though.
