Take it easy on yourself

I am trawling through some old images to see if there any little gems there that I may have missed before. I do this from time to time as my ideas change on what I think is a good image. I may also have a new idea for how a certain picture could be processed. The only problem that I find with this way of doing things is that I also see the images that did not quite make it.

I end up thinking if only I had focused a little more, moved that leaf, stood to the left a bit and so on and so on. Sometimes it can leave me feeling very annoyed with myself and frustrated. But what I must remember is not what I did not do then but how far I have come now.

Photography is art and there is that old say 'Art is subjective'. Sometimes it is nice to try the odd looking picture or one you are not entirley happy with because it might suprise you.

I had an image of my old faithful border collie Skippy who was carrying a toy in his mouth and walking towars me. Now it was a nice photo, I am biased, but nothing out of the ordinary but I uploaded it to a photo library I belonged to and it sold. Full page. I did not expect this. It just goes to show that you never really know what works until you try it.

The other thought here is that maybe we should just Take it easy on ourselves a bit as well and to remember that we are all doing the best we can in that moment. Be kind to yourselves everyone.
